Top Five Romantic Comedies: in time for Valentines Day

Of course with everyone's opinions out there, no one set of five movies will please all; however, these five movies are guaranteed to keep you entertained.  These are the top five recommended movies to watch this Valentine's day.

Sixteen Candles (1984)  is a story about adolescent love.  Samantha (played by 80's super-actress Molly Ringwald ) is celebrating her 16th birthday, which is being overlooked due to the attention being focused on her sister's wedding.  She accidently loses her "how far have you gone with a boy" quiz at school where it is picked up by her dreamy stud, Jake Ryan (Michael Schoeffling).  When he sees his name on the list as her ideal man things get exciting. "Add all this to a pair of horrendously embarrassing grandparents, a foreign exchange student named Long Duc Dong, and we have the makings of a hilarious journey into young womanhood."

The movie is a great representation of adolescent courtship.  When you are fifteen, the world revolves around boys and high school love.

This is a Valentine's day must see because, well, it's Molly Ringwald in her prime... before she was subjected to Family Guy parodies and an awful ABC television show.

When Harry met Sally (1989) "Can two friends sleep together and still love each other in the morning?" asks the movie Tag line.  The movie follows the lives of friends Harry (Billy Crystal) and Sally (Meg Ryan) as they search for love with no avail.  The two grow so close, but fear that sex could ruin their perfect friendship.

The move faces the viewers with the question: Can a man and a woman be friends, without sex getting in the way?

This is an all-time classic and a must-see Romantic Comedy!

The Wedding Singer (1998) Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore bring to the life the story of a down-on-his-luck wedding singer, Robbie (Sandler) who meets waitress, Julia (Barrymore).  Julia is all set to marry her douche-bag of a fiance, Glenn Gulia.  Robbie, however, saves the day in true romantic comedy style with a song and a lot of love.

This movie is a classic and one that will keep you and your loved one laughing on Valentine's day.  Who doesn't love a throwback to the 80's?

Bridget Jone's Diary (2001)  With such great tag lines as: "All Women Keep Score... Only The Great Ones Put It In Writing.", "For anyone who's ever been set up, stood up or felt up.", "Uninhibited. Uncensored. Unmarried.", "Health Warning: Adopting Bridget's lifestyle could seriously damage your health.", "It's Monday morning, Bridget has woken up with a headache, a hangover and her boss." everyone can enjoy this British Romantic Comedy.

The movie revolves around Bridget (Renée Zellweger), a woman determined to get her life together, and as a New Year Resolution she "[keeps] a diary in which she will always tell the complete truth."

It's a quirky, sexy, fun film to watch with or without a boyfriend this Valentine's day.  After all who needs a man when you can watch Hugh Grant all day?

 (500) Days of Summer (2009) is a self proclaimed 'anti-romantic comedy'.  It is clever, funny, and ground breaking.  Viewers are not only faced with the cute story of Boy meets Girl, but the reality of what happens after.  The movie's tag line reads, "Boy meets girl. Boy falls in love. Girl doesn't."
Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel prove themselves in this artfully pieced together story.

Here is a clip from the movie that showcases the brighter side of the story:
