Valentine's Day: A Day of Love, Laughs, and Lingerie

February 14th should feel like any other winter day in the hearts of Americans, but with the magic of Greeting Card Companies and the power of Chocolate it has become a day of celebration.  Valentine's day is all about love and affection.

Our friends at Wikipedia would define it as: "a day on which lovers express their love for each other by presenting flowers, offering confectionery, and sending greeting cards (known as 'valentines')."  My challenge to readers is to find what Valentine's Day means to them.

1.  Is it a Day of Romantic Comedies and Cuddling Up?

Valentine's Day (2010) is jammed packed with high profile celebrities- note that I call them 'Celebrities' and not 'Actors'.  Since When is Taylor Swift and actress?  Kanye West might have something to say about this!  The IMDB synopsis reads, "In this Russian roulette world of finding love, everyone in the film is asking for advice on how to find and keep true love."  Will it be cliche?  Probably.  Will it make you laugh? Probably?  Will you have wasted money?  Who is to say- after all you do get to see the bright and handsome faces of Hollywood's Finest.

2. Is it a Day of Chocolate

Nothing says love like strawberries dipped in chocolate.  They are really simple to make and SUPER simple to eat.  Traditional chocolate dipped strawberries are done in dark or milk chocolate; however, these are made with white chocolate mixed with red food coloring to make them pink for Valentine's day.

The chocolate doesn't have to end there...

As long as it's pink, red, or heart shaped it can pass as a Valentine's day treat.  Instead of buying your wife the same box of chocolates every year, take the time to bake a batch of Valentine's Day cupcakes or even v-day fudge

3.  Is it a Day for the Family?:

With little ones running around it might be difficult for you and the hubby to make it to a nice restaurant this year.  Instead you might bake some treats at home and have the kids make valentines for friends and neighbors.

Art's and crafts are a great way to have the kids participate as well as baking up some delicious treats.

The key to a Family valentine's is to keep the kids busy during the day and then you get the entire night for you and your spouse.

4. Is it a day for Getting Out?

Sometimes it's nice to get outdoors for Valentine's day. The trick is to pick the right location for you and your loved one.

Personally, parks make a great location. I love laying on the grass and looking at the clouds pass by. More adventurous couples might try going camping for V-day- I suppose even hiking and bugs can say love.

 5. Is it a day to be Single and Proud?:

Who says you have to be in a relationship to celebrate Valentine's day?  Get together with friends or family and have a dinner-game night.  Bring out personal favorites, like: Monopoly, Life, Scrabble, Pictionary, and Scene It.

Being self loathing on a day about love is awful.  Don't let yourself get trapped in the notion that you can't have a good time without a significant other.

However, you could walk around following happy couples on Valentine's day grumbling and making them miserable.

6. Is it a day of Sex, Lust and Lingerie?

When it's all said and done, you want to look sexy for your loved one on Valentine's day.  Women spend an enormous amount of time trying to find the perfect bra and panty combination for their boyfriends and husbands.

Slip on something silky and sexy and spark some lovin' this February 14th.

Men- this doesn't just have to be the women.  You can bring out your sexy underwear and surprise your Mrs.

7.  Is it a day to say "I Love You"?

Whatever your meaning of Valentine's day, make it a good one.  Surround yourself with people you love and snack on delicious treats.  People who complain about the commercialization of Holidays clearly haven't tasted a Valentine's day Red Velvet Cake.
